Spring has sprung...

… and the sap is rising. Literally.

Very exciting to see buds appearing on our fruit trees, which looked so unpromising, little more than bare twigs, when they were planted a month ago.

Wake up time: spring brings promise of good things to come.

Of course, the main purpose of the nursery is to grow native saplings for Forktree itself and for use on other revegetation projects in the region, and the task of setting up the infrastructure to allow this to happen will begin within the next month. The fruit trees will serve a couple of important purposes, however.

Firstly , they line the windward side of the nursery and in time will provide shelter for the the delicate seedlings from the wind that can whip up the valley from the sea.

Secondly, they will provide delicious energy for those working with the seedlings in the nursery. A bonus and something to look forward to - even though we might have to wait a bit for that.
