Smashing climate action

A big thank you to Ethan Nguyen and his team of volunteers from Lincoln College Adelaide who did sterling work at Forktree today.

Working with gusto and enthusiasm, the students salvaged, cleaned and sorted about 750 reusable bricks from the area set to become the parking pad for the sustainability centre.

Wannabe Thors among the group smashed the remaining large chunks of rubble in advance of the pad being rolled and compacted by an excavator.

Others meanwhile got stuck into weeding around our recently planted native grasses - a crucially important task to ensure that these important links in the biodiversity chain thrive and grow.

The work done today ticks multiple boxes: not only is one area of the site being cleared so that it can be revegetated, but yesterday’s waste is being put to good use in another spot, with no need for newly mined materials — a multi-faceted win for the environment. A huge thank you to the student volunteers from Lincoln College to worked so hard and with such good cheer.
