great work by p.a.c.

It was a pleasure on Sunday to welcome Year 10 and 11 economics and geography students from Prince Alfred College to The Forktree Project in what was the college’s second day of service learning on site.

Activities undertaken by the students allowed for experiential learning in both subject areas, from circular economy principles through salvaging, cleaning and sorting whole bricks through to increased awareness of biodiversity through to protecting the newly planted sheoaks and eucalypts that will in time become habitat suitable for endangered glossy black cockatoos.

And discussing links between sustainability and economics over a well-earned lunch combined food for hungry bodies with food for hungry minds - a perfect blend!

Links to economics, geography and science through rewilding work are rich and stimulating, but just as important is learning that contributing in a hands-on way to positive climate action is the best antidote to eco-anxiety, empowering us to be part of the solution rather than just victims of the problem - and helping us develop vital coping strategies in the face of adversity.

Many thanks to the PAC students for their hard work and positive attitude, and to the PAC teaching staff whose enthusiasm enabled the students to be part of the project. We look forward to welcoming you down to Forktree again soon.
