Thick crust or thin crust?

We are very excited that the base of our long-awaited pizza oven has been laid.

Once the position was chosen, a 1.8x1.8m square hole was dug and filled with crushed rubble from our rubble pile (the gift that keeps on giving). Plastic sheeting was then laid on top of the rubble to prevent moisture from rising up from below, followed by wire rebar mesh and finally a concrete pour. Thank you, Simon, for your expertise.

Next step will be building the oven itself.

And the next step after that will be firing it up and enjoying a freshly baked pizza in front of the sunset after a day of tree planting.

A good, thick-crust base, if ever there was one.
