national tree day at The forktree project
What a great National Tree Day we had at Forktree yesterday with planting volunteers from Uniting Communities!
Re-establishing a biodiverse native habitat involves planting not just trees but also mid-storey species (shrubs) and under-storey species (grasses and ground cover). Our National Tree Day team of volunteers planted an area with native wallaby grasses, midstorey species including Leptospermum continentale, and a range of native trees - Eucalyptus viminalis, Allocasuarina verticillata and Melaleuca decussata.
Planting on a glorious winter’s day with a great crew of cheerful volunteers - what better way to mark National Tree Day. Thank you, Uniting Communities - we look forward to welcoming you to The Forktree Project again!
