schools national tree day

Today is Schools National Tree Day in Australia - a great day on which to say thank you to all the students and teachers who have helped so far at The Forktree Project.

Research tells us that getting out in nature is important for our physical and mental wellbeing, reducing stress levels and improving concentration levels, critical thinking skills and self-regulation.

Moreover, getting involved in purposeful environmental activities is empowering for young people and increases the chances of them being responsible stewards of the environment in adulthood (Mayer et al. 2009). At The Forktree Project we believe passionately that, while raising awareness of the seriousness of the climate crisis is necessary, it is important to teach young people that positive action CAN make a difference.

So THANK YOU to the teachers and students who have got involved in The Forktree Project so far. It has been a privilege to work with you all, and we look forward to continuing the Forktree rewilding journey with you!

To all other schools out there, we’d love to welcome you and your students to The Forktree Project. For more information on opportunities for schools at The Forktree Project, please contact us. We’d love to hear from you!
