national recycling week @ the forktree project #

A key part of the Forktree Project circular economy story is a determination to turn a negative into a positive, in thie case creating valuable infrastructure out of what appears to be waste:

  1. using broken bricks and rubble as fill for pads supporting the water tanks, as fill for gabion retaining walls;

  2. using more rubble to create a flat surface on the Forktree nursery;

  3. and using “waste” lumps of concrete to build urbanite “dry stone wall” beds in the rare seed orchard.

Photos taken in 2019, 2020 and 2021 (and final photo of plants in raised bed in 2022) - great to reflect on how much progress has happened since then. Repurposing waste - a win on so many fronts.
