digging deep
A big thank you to FarmLab for their expertise and guidance baselining the soil organic carbon levels at The Forktree Project.
We have taken soil samples from across the Forktree Project site to determine our soil organic carbon levels in both topsoil and subsoil with a view to increasing the amount of atmospheric carbon we can pull down over the coming years. This removes it from the atmosphere and improves our soil health, rainfall infiltration, reduces runoff, improves soil biology and builds resilience in our land. We now eagerly await feedback from Farm Lab on the results from the soil samples so that we can plan effectively.
Amazing to be drilling down into these layers of science (pun fully intended) and using the knowledge we unearth (sorry, can’t resist…) to make our habitat restoration work the best it can be. What’s not to like?
