UNDERSTOREY FOUNDATIONS

Two planting seasons in and many of our plants are looking very healthy - no longer saplings but small trees. And meanwhile our new generation of eucalypts, sheoaks and other native trees are maturing well in our seed nursery and should be ready for planting in a few months’ time.

A big focus this year is establishing the understorey to complement the young trees and to ensure a biodiverse environment. To that end we have been busy propagating native grasses and shrubs.

The same process applies: Stage 1 - propagation of seed gathered at Forktree or within the local area; Stage 2 - pricking out individual plants to mature in their own tubes. Fingers crossed we will have a healthy supply of tube stock by planting time, all propagated and nurtured in our own seed nursery!
