Term 2 wrap up

As we approach the July holidays, it’s an opportune moment to reflect on what was achieved with school groups at the Forktree Project throughout Term 2.

The short answer is… A LOT!

Over the course of Term 2, a total of 360 students from 5 different schools, from Year 4 to Year 11, visited The Forktree Project. All made a signficant contribution, planting trees and shrubs, pricking out and potting on seedlings, and taking part in our circular economy challenge.

Thanks in large part to the students’ efforts, we can now see a wave of tree guards sweeping down the hillsides, like beacons of hope to the future. It’s a great sight!

As with all our school visits, these students had a chance to reflect during their days at Forktree on the importance of biodiversity to our own health, wellbeing and very existence, and to consider how humans have a symbiotic relationship with nature that must be respected and nurtured. Just as nature needs us to protect it, we need nature and biodiversity on a multitude of levels, for our wellbeing and food security and to moderate global climate pattens.

We look forward to welcoming many more students throughout Term 3 as we continue to get plants in the ground before the end August

Watch this space for a final count of plants in the ground for the 2023 planting season. How many do you think we have managed so far this year…??!
