innovate to create

They say that necessity is the mother of invention. That is certainly the case in the Forktree nursery.

When a challenge arises, a solution needs to be found, often creatively and, more often with not, using repurposed materials in keeping with our circular economy drive.

A couple of examples of this have emerged recently in the nursery:

  1. The making of pest-proof cages to fit over the planting table where a few of the young seedlings have proved to be a particularly delicious snack for rats, A big thank you to Master Craftsman Ralph, whose ingenious removable rat-proof cages are a perfect fit. PROBLEM SOLVED!

  2. The construction of a makeshift green house out of polystyrene seedling trays, an old window and some rocks for ballast against those Forktree winds… Ingenious again! PROBLEM SOLVED!
