It’s a truth universally acknowledged that summer in South Australia is hot. Very hot.

We are continuing to water all our saplings by hand, giving each of them a 10-litre soak which will give them a boost for the next 4 weeks. It will take much of that time to get round to them all with a hose.

Watering the trees one by one allows us to assess the success rate - or failure rate - of this year’s plantings. We were told to expect a failure rate of anywhere between 10% and 50%. So far it looks as if we have lost only 5%! Given the extreme heat over the last few weeks, this is fantastic news.
