Let planting season commence!

The beginning of planting season is always an exciting time. After careful propagating and nurturing of thousands of saplings in the nursery throughout spring and summer, it is hugely rewarding to get the saplings into the ground.

And of course, with the recent rains, we have been able to get started earlier this year, already planting hundreds of saplings around the new camping pads and, today, doing some strategic erosion resistant planting on the slope below the top dam.

To mix a few appropriate metaphors, for the nursery team it’s a case of seeing the fruits of their labour take root. Many thanks to Fleur, Darcy and Josh in the Forktree nursery for their great work leading the seed harvesting, propagating and pricking out of seedlings over spring and summer and for looking after the plants so conscientiously. With the impressive range of native trees, shrubs and grasses currently growing in the Forktree nursery, planting season 2023 is going to be rewarding, fascinating and exciting in equal measure.

As always, we are delighted to hear from volunteers who would like to get involved. Please get in touch via the contact page on this website to register your interest.
