Timber tops

It seems counter-intuitive to cut trees down on a rewilding project, but in the pre-existing stand of radiata pines on the edge of the property, a number of very tall dead trees needed to be felled - for safety’s sake and also to reduce fuel load before the next fire season.

So time to call in the experts: welcome and thank you, arborists Logan and Pete, who donned their gear, shimmied up great heights and thinned out the radiata pine stand, removing the dead trees.

Reassuring to know that the fire risk is reduced with the removal of dead wood. Next challenge: find a new use for the felled timber so that it doesn’t go to waste. It won’t take long…

Once again, thank you, Pete and Logan - a job well done. Timbertastic, in fact.
