Native Grass Generation Game

Only a few months in and it’s amazing to see how much seed has been produced so soon after planting these Rytidosperma tenuis native grasses in one of our Rare Seed Orchard production beds.

And it’s incredible to think that each of the hundreds of seeds produced by each small grass in this production bed will in turn produce hundreds or thousands more seeds, which in turn will be propagated to grow into a grass to produce its own seed in its own right.

It’s a multi-generational, flora-family-tree thing that has the power to make a hugely positive impact on the ecosystems of this region.

If we just give nature a hand, we can then marvel at its work. This first season of seed production is an exciting time at The Forktree Project.
