Greenhouse effect
Kangaroo grass (Themeda triandra) needs temperatures of 40-45°C to break its dormancy and germinate but temperatures this summer haven’t been high enough so we’re putting these old windows to good use.
Like a greenhouse, the glass traps a certain amount of the short-wave radiation that comes in from the sun and reflects it back down to the soil in the planting boxes, turning a 25°C day into a 40°C day for the seeds. Let’s see if it works!
