FENCING CHALLENGES

Top priority over the last three weeks has been extending the fencing around the whole property. Last year we fenced one third of the property; this year we are fencing the rest. It is a massive undertaking, not just due to the total length of fence required but also because of the challenging nature of the terrain with steep gullies to be navigated.

High fences are needed to keep the strong, healthy kangaroo population away from the saplings. It is a sad irony that we need to keep these native creatures away from our rewilding project to allow healthy native ecosystem to take root. In a few years they will be welcome to return to complement the biodiversity of the Forktree Project.
